Sometimes, we feel like we need to do more to feel better. More tasks. More goals. More effort.

But true barakah (blessing, peace, ease) comes when we slow down and bring Allah (swt) into our day, little by little.

These 10 simple spiritual habits don’t require hours of your time. They’re gentle reminders that barakah isn’t found in how much we get done, it’s found in how close we feel to Allah (swt) while doing it.

1. Start Your Day with “Bismillah” and a Small Intention

Before checking your phone or getting out of bed, say “Bismillah.” Then quietly think:

“Ya Allah, help me make today meaningful and full of goodness.”

It’s a small moment that can change your whole day.

2. Pray Fajr and Try Not to Rush

There’s so much barakah in the early morning. If you can, take a few extra minutes after Fajr to sit in silence, make a short du‘a, or just enjoy the quiet. It brings peace to your heart.

3. Remember Allah (swt) While You Do Everyday Things

You can say short phrases like:

  • SubhanAllah (Glory be to Allah)
  • Alhamdulillah (All praise is for Allah)
  • La Ilaha Illa Allah (There is no god except Allah)
  • Allahu Akbar (Allah is the Greatest) while washing dishes, driving, or walking. It helps your day feel more connected to Him.

4. Give Something, Even If It’s Small

Giving doesn’t have to be big. Share a snack, give a kind word, smile at someone, or donate a little online. When we give, Allah (swt) fills our lives with more.

5. Be Fully Present with One Person

Put away distractions. Listen with care. Be kind.

Even one moment of real connection (with your children, spouse, parents, friend, or colleague) can bring barakah into your relationships.

6. Read One Ayah from the Qur’an

Start with one ayah a day, read it slowly and with reflection. Don’t underestimate the power of one Ayah on your soul. You can always build up on this habit as long as you can be consistent with it, because consistent quality is better than inconsistent quantity.

7. Say Kind Words Every Day

Use your words to make someone smile. A small compliment or encouraging message can stay in someone’s heart for a long time.

8. Make Du‘a for Someone Without Telling Them

Think of someone and quietly say, “Ya Allah, give them ease, joy, and guidance.”

These hidden du‘as are powerful and filled with barakah, especially that whenever we make sincere duas for others, the angels respond with ‘Ameen, and may you have the same.’ This means we’re also rewarded with the same blessings we ask for others.

9. Say “Alhamdulillah” Out Loud

Notice the little things (your coffee, a cool breeze, a good moment) and say Alhamdulillah. It brings more blessings into your life when you thank Allah (swt) often.

10. End Your Day by Talking to Allah (swt)

Before sleeping, think about your day. Say:

  • “Thank You, Allah, for today.”
  • “Please help me with what I’m struggling with.”
  • “Please help me do better tomorrow.” Trust that He hears you, and let your heart rest.

Final Thoughts

Barakah isn’t about being perfect. It’s about trying, one little habit at a time.

Start small. Be gentle with yourself. Let your day be filled with small acts that bring you closer to Allah (swt).

When we invite Allah (swt) into our day, even in the simplest of ways, we open the door for more peace, ease, and barakah.
